KC Scooter riders are planning to ride our scooters in the Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Parade in Lees Summit MO on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 Line up in Lees Summit is at Noon, and Parade starts at 1:00 pm.

The parade lines up at Lee's Summit High School, 400 S.E. Blue Parkway, then proceeds to S.E. 8th Street, and merges onto S.E. Green Street. From Green Street, it heads west on Third Street to S.E. Main, then goes north on S.E. Main and crosses Second Street to end at the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church parking lot.

The entry fee for this parade is $30.00. I will take care of getting our registration form and entry fee submitted by the deadline of Feb. 24th. We will divide the entry fee equally amoung the numbers of riders. So please bring a few bucks to chip in.

Saturday, March 10th: We will meet up at 10:00 a.m. at the Wendy's located at Meyer Blvd and Troost in KC MO (meet in the parking lot on the east side of Wendy's). Restrooms are available inside Wendy's if necessary. Please arrive fully gassed and ready to roll. We will Leave promptly at 10:30 am and head east to Lees Summit. Gary and I have chosen a very cool route to get there.

If you plan to decorate your scooter you may want to consider bringing your decorations and waiting to put them on until we arrive in Lees Summit.

P.S. If anyone knows of two people who would like to drive to Lees Summit and Walk in front us in the Parade and carry our banner, let me know.

Hey, I have a couple of takers on carrying the banner! My friend Barbie's two girls are I think 9 and 11 and they're into it!!

You don't have a "maybe" lol but that's cool.

UPDATE:
We will meet at Wendy's located near Meyer Blvd and Troost at 10:00 a.m. and will ride in a group to Lees Summit.

For those of you who are meeting up with us in Lees Summit, we are lining up in the parking lot on the east side of the Lees Summit high school. You will need to enter the parking lot thru the south entrance off SE Blue Parkway. Our spot number is 17.

BUMP!!!!!

We are still on for the parade (even if it ends up being only Gary and Myself)!

We rode our scooters on the route today and I can tell you that the ride out there is a different route than the ride back. So you will not be dissapointed. You are sure to enjoy all of the curvey roads, long steep hills, hair pin curves, the crossing over of two one lane bridges, and all the way nothing but back woods scenery.

We have a restroom and drink stop planned when we get to Lees Summit before we head for the parade staging area.
Be sure to bring your decorating supplies to decorate your scooters once we get to the staging area.

Once the parade is over we will start out ride back to KC. We will end up riding past the Wendy's that we started from and everyone can break away from the group and head our seperate directions when we get there.

We are going to miss the Irish Breakfast that they are having because it is earlier in the morning (the cost for that was $12 a person anyway). So we can grab a breakfast sandwich at Wendy's before we head out. You may have to bring your own Irish Wiskey if you want a pre-ride nip!

You all may want to watch the weather and dress appropriately (in layers is always a good idea). If may be a cool ride out there but once we are in the parade and riding at a snails pace you may be a bit warmer and need to peal off a layer or two.

It should be an awesome day...I am looking forward to the ride there and back almost more than the parade! (hee hee!!)

I will most likely meet you at the line up spot. #17 has to be our lucky number!

From Downtown Lees Summit if you take Douglas Street south, it will 'T" into SE Blue Parkway, then if you turn left the High School is just on the left side of the street. They said that there would be handlers at the parking lot entrance to direct us to our spot.

I will meet you all at the line up spot. Looking forward to having our great group in my fair city! LOL! Pub crawl after will be fun. Lots of good places to eat but probably crowded. Summit Hickory Pit is a couple of miles away - I recommend it. Great food, full bar, great atmosphere. My son and his girlfriend (both redheads!) are planning to walk and throw candy. Daughter will be there too, she's still trying to find a friend to carry the banner so John, please bring it. If you want me to pick it up in town sometime this week I can do that. John, thanks for getting this arranged.
